Dr. Fischer HPM 17 2000W 243V 8.7A C14X – High-Pressure UV Lamp, DIAZO 320–440 nm

Dr. Fischer HPM 17 is a professional high-pressure UV source from the HPM – Gallium-doped (Ga) lamp family. Gallium doping modifies the spectral characteristics of the lamp and boosts its useful output in the UVA region, making HPM lamps particularly suitable for diazo-based systems and UV exposure processes. It is therefore not a monochromatic UV source emitting at one single wavelength, but a broad-spectrum UV lamp with spectral output optimised for these applications.

For HPM lamp performance measurements, Dr. Fischer defines the DIAZO spectral range as 320–440 nm. The HPM 17 provides an initial diazo irradiance of 4600 µW/cm², measured perpendicular to the lamp axis at a distance of 1 metre with relative spectral sensitivity according to IEC. This is a particularly important parameter for exposure processes, where the UV spectrum and radiation intensity within the working wavelength range are as important as the electrical lamp power.

The lamp has a rated power of 2000 W, a lamp voltage of 243 V and a lamp current of 8.7 A. The current Dr. Fischer data lists an 113 mm arc length, 175 mm total length, 30 mm bulb diameter and 320/320 mm connection cables with stripped ends. The HPM 17 is designed for horizontal operation and requires the appropriate ballast/control gear; it is not intended for direct connection to the standard mains supply.

Typical applications of HPM lamps include diazo exposure, screen printing, plate making and exposure processes involving UV-sensitive materials.

Warning: This lamp produces intense UV radiation that is hazardous to the eyes and skin. It must only be operated in enclosed or professionally designed equipment that prevents direct human exposure to UV radiation.
